Yup-- can't wait.  The preview on arstechnica.com said it looks pretty cinematic, even in comparison to the first game.  This is going to be fun...

The demo's out for general public today (atleast it's supposed to be), so we shall see.  I think they've likely added too much shit to it and tried to "tf2" it up too much.  Tf2's fun and all but they're 2 separate genres.

I think I'm going to pre-Order it on Steam, $44.95 seems a good price when L4D is still selling for almost $60 in retail stores up here. I can't imagine L4D2 coming out for less than that.

You get some kind of 'customized' baseball bat in the game too, and who needs a box anyway?

Why wouldn't you download and play through the demo a few times before you choose to do so?  You can assessment of how you like the actual game and can still pre-order.  That's the idea of having a demo.

I thought you had to preorder it to get the game and it was only in a locked 'Demo Mode' until a certain date....'course I did drink a lot of beer and killed many brains cells last weekend so I could be wrong....

EDIT: ah, I see you're right, it's now available as a separate D/L...grabbing it now!  Wink

Left 4 Dead 2 demo now available to all PC users

Posted Nov 3rd 2009 7:00PM by John Callaham

For all of you cheap skates who don't want to spend money ahead of time for Left 4 Dead 2, your time to play the demo for Valve's upcoming zombie co-op shooter sequel has come. Now everyone with a Steam announce can download the demo for free.

Yes, you can check out the campaign and solo modes for the sequel as you run around the zombie-fied city of New Orleans while dealing with new boss zombies and using new melee weapons like our favorite the machete. If you like the demo you can still pre-order the full game for 10 percent off, plus get an exclusive Team Fortress 2 in-game hat.

Didn't like it? Kinda hard to judge on what little we got of 1 campaign. 1st impression...I'm not blown away but I did like what I saw. I liked the variety of weapons, one guy I was playing with was raving about how much he liked the Machete. Having Adrenaline is an interesting concept if you're trapped by a horde and need to move fast.

What didn't you like?

Well it's really stupid how you lose your pistol when you pickup a melee weapon.  None of the new weapons do anything spectacular.  Pipes and mollys.. gee haven't seen those before.  A witch that wanders instead of sits.  A few new infected.  It's exactly what I would expect an expansion of  Left 4 Dead to be, instead it's a separate game for $50.  That's too much for an expansion.  It's a money grab by Valve and people will pay it and they will successfully cash in on this mediocre sequel.

I agree about the Pistols, carrying 1 or 2 as well s a Melee weapon should be doable. Once I find a Desert Eagle pistol I don't want to give up that monster gun. Yeah, it's a cash grab but I'll probably buy it anyway to support development of games like these. I've seen many comments like yours on gameboards, there may be a backlash on Valve over this.

There should be loads of Downloadable Content for it over the next couple of years tho to justify this price. Hopefully Valve realizes this.
